Hi! I'm Ralph Budelman.
We invite future and existing customers to travel to Bangalore, India and visit
us. But until then, sit back, relax and let the stylusinc.com team give you an
online tour of Bangalore. All you need to do is keep scrolling down allowing
the 100 photos to load ahead of you.
Discover what it would be like if you actually came to India. Experience a ride
in an Indian taxi, go shopping for exotic gifts, stop at a a restaurant and
almost taste the spicy food! Walk the street of this hi-tech software city and
visit a typical village!

At the Airport
Hi, I am KC George and I will greet you at the airport. I handle much of the
management of stylusinc.com. I am not married so when your flight arrives at
2AM you are not taking me away from a family!
International Flights from North America can take the Atlantic of Pacific
route. Depending on where you are leaving from; you can either fly Europe/
Bombay/ Bangalore or Frankfort direct to Bangalore. From the Pacific you can go
through Singapore or KL with direct flights into Bangalore.OK let's get started
on our tour!
Taxi
Ride from the Airport
Bangalore is in Southern India and has a population of about 5 million people.
They live in an area smaller than most American cities. Your hotel will
probably be less than 5 miles from the airport so the drive from the airport
will take 15 minutes unless we run into Bangalore's famous traffic! In this
case it might take 30 minutes. (But remember most international flights arrive
just after midnight.) We will ride in a typical Indian taxi.

This is an Ambassador, the workhorse of the Indian roads. No mere parking lot
accident can dent its fenders! In Bangalore you can hire a taxi for about $15.
US Dollars per day.

Hotels

This nice hotel in the heart of the city would cost about $40 per night but you
can spend over $200 per night if you want real luxury. There are plenty of 5
star hotels. In either case we will make a good selection for you. You can
relax and overcome the jet lag.
These world class hotels (Leela Palace & Oberi) are a good place to rest.
You will have spent about 22 hours in the air if you came from the United
States. And since we are 12 1/2 hours ahead of Los Angeles you may not sleep
well the first few nights. You may find yourself wide-awake at 1:00 AM because
your body is hungry and ready to go for lunch. So be prepared for a few
difficult days.
Click
here for a list of hotels with their URLs.
After you are over jet lag you can stop into our offices and see us busy working
on our computers. Or you can visit any one of the other 600 plus software
companies in Bangalore.

Perhaps they are selecting a wedding sari.

The saleslady is displaying and wearing a cotton Salwar Kamis.

Many tourist buy some and wear them while in India and discover it to be very
comfortable and practical. They then take them home and find them to be a big
hit with their friends.
You can pick from nice department stores like Westside or bargain with
shopkeepers on the streets.
Many
tourists like to buy silk blouses, scarves and custom made outfits. This man is
selling silk saris. Your experience in a Bangalore sari shop will be worth the
airfare!

The guy on the phone is from Kashmir North India. He has set up a gift shop
full of nice products from Kashmir. In the foreground you can see a carpet and
some walnut wood.

Indian Food

By now your legs need a break and you are ready for lunch. Bangalorians and
most Indians don't eat until 1PM. Many of the traditions shops are closed from
1-4pm. Just like Mexico, they take a siesta. So lets eat and take a nap.
You can eat at one of the many fine restaurants. You might be very surprised to
see someone eating with their hands.

Most days in Bangalore are pleasant enough to have lunch outside.Perhaps these
people are talking about the Internet. Some of them probably work at software
companies.

Now that we have had lunch we need to go for a walk to burn those calories.
Some beautiful old neighborhoods are within a few blocks from the restaurant,
let's go.
Typical Housing (Bungalows & Apartments)

Typical old Bangalore bungalows (houses) like these are often torn down to make
way for new apartments.
This
apartment is only a few block from the central business district. The cost to
rent a prime three bedroom apartment would be about $400 per month.

Now let's go back to the downtown area.
Downtown Bangalore
MG Road goes through the center
of downtown Bangalore.
Visit an airline office if you
need to confirm your flight.
Meet Bangalore police man
There are good bookstores
and street vendors selling magazines.

Here you can find at least 5 different computer magazine.
If you look carefully you
can see they often come
with a CD.
Villages
Since most Indians live in villages, no tour would be complete without a visit.
Stopping for a Snack

We have seen alot in one day to transition back we will stop in at Kentucky
Fried Chicken and get a chicken burger. Since the cow is considered sacred no
beef is served.

TRAVEL TIPS
What to Wear
Bangalore has great weather! Check out
http://cnn.com/WEATHER/html/BangaloreIndia.html . It
is neither too cold nor too hot.
Ladies should dress modestly shorts are OK but generally used for exercise
and sports. Women should remember that Indians are conservative. Tank tops
expose too much, but just like any cosmopolitan city, fashions change quickly
Men can wear slacks shirt and a tie for business and normal casual wear
otherwise.
Health
Check with your doctor before coming. Often foreigners are vulnerable
to illness. I suppose Indians get sick when traveling abroad also. The
following shots are recommended. Hepatitis A & B . Malaria is not a problem
in Bangalore but is a problem in other parts of India. If you are traveling ask
your doctor for some preventative medicine. While in India it is a good idea to
drink only bottled or boiled water.
Visa
Most nationalities need a visa to enter India. It must be received in advance.
Americans can contact
http://www.tourindia.com/indcon.htm
Indian Rupee
You can exchange money at the airport upon arrival. Credit cards are accepted at
the finer hotels, restaurants and retail stores.
Language
You may be surprised at the amount of English spoken in Bangalore. You
will hear teenagers talking in English on the streets. Most shop owners and
taxi drivers will speak broken English. Business travelers will discover that
it may take a while to understand the accent but soon will realize that
language will not be a problem.
India has many cultures and languages. It is like many countries within a
country. English and Hindi are commonly used as bridge language. Generally
Indians know more than one language and can learn languages quickly.
Namaste! (Hello/Bye!)

A few people experience culture shock in India but for most their visit is a
fantastic life changing experience. Often people are sad when they leave and
want to return. Your visit is over. We hope that you will want to return but
this time for real.
Namaste
